King of the Zoo review - Nintendo Gameboy

When it comes to finding out who is the hardest animal in the zoo, they don't fight it out tooth and claw. They just get put a bag of balls on the table and play this wacky game.

Two animals compete at a time and because this is a Game Link pak, they can be two human players. Each player stands at opposite ends of the table, armed with five balls, and within 60 seconds they have to get as many of their balls to their opponent's end of the table. If one player can get rid of all ten balls he wins and gets a perfect score!

Of course, the best way to slow down an opponent is to roll a ball straight at him, knocking him out momentarily!

" This is an absurdly simple game, but as usual with absurdly simple game it's good fun. It plays like that old board game, Crossfire so there's not really an awful lot of skill required. Each game is just a frenzy of grabbing the balls and chucking them at your opponent, and with two players this is a great laugh. If you're after a good two player pak, King of the Zoo is definitely worth considering. "

" I bought King of the Zoo on import a while ago when it was called Penguin War, and many's the train journey that's been livened up by this odd-ball game. My only reservation about giving it a higher rating is that solo players may well get bored of the game pretty quickly, but if you're playing against another person, King of the Zoo is great fun. Try it and see! "
