Every month Retro Gamer magazine runs a hardware inspection, and for issue 40 I wrote their in-depth look at NEC's PC Engine. A massive success in Japan but a dismal failure in the US, the console never saw an official Europe release but was a firm favourite with importers. For this feature I managed to speak to Ken Wirt, who worked at NEC back in the early 90s and was the man behind many of the key choices made when releasing the machine in America. I also spoke to John Grainer, the head of Hudsonsoft USA.
