Mean Machines Issue 12 - September 1991

Issue SummaryThe Super Famicom really started to turn up the heat in this issue, with yet another must-have title in the form of Capcom's Area 88 (UN Squadron to Western gamers). There was also the impressive Super R-Type for lucky Famicom owners. However, Nintendo's new console wasn't having all the fun as Megadrive owners had Streets of Rage to drool over - the first in a trilogy of Megadrive releases that are so good, you have to wonder why Sega hasn't updated the series on current consoles. Star Flight, also on the Megadrive, won the award for Crappest-Looking- But-Actually-Kinda -Great-Game competition, with graphics so poor they looked like a small child had drawn them. Still, it played like a dream! There was another Radion Automatic comic strip this month, and it was just as nutty as the the first. |
