Mean Machines Issue 10 - July 1991
Gary Harrod's stunning cover artwork for Shadow of the Beast graces this month's issue. A preview for the Master System version is contained inside.
The biggest change this month was staff-related - Matt Regan departed the magazine to work on fellow EMAP publications Sinclair User and PC Leisure.
In terms of reviews, the big one was obviously Sonic the Hedgehog on the Megadrive. After the months of build up, the game was finally reviewed and as expected, the MM team loved it. Also on the Megadrive was the shooter Zero Wing - the game that was responsible for the recent "All you base" internet cult. Notice how no one made a big fuss about it back in 1991 - it took more to entertain us back then.
On the (still very youthful) SNES we had Sim City. Thankfully Nintendo had given the boring PC version a complete facelift and it turned out to be one of the must-have early SNES releases.
And to top it all off, more free glow in the dark stickers! Yippie! Ahem.
More glow in the Dark Stickers as in previous issue! Please see Gary Harrod section on our media page.
