Jaz Interviewed for Bedrooms to Billions Documentary
By Damien McFerran - 16 Jun, 2012
Remember the days when bedroom coders were treated like celebrities and entire software houses were founded off the back of one successful Spectrum game? If the answer is yes, then you may want to point your browser in the direction of From Bedrooms to Billions, a feature length documentary film covering the amazing story of the British Video Games Industry between the years of 1979 and 1996.
Just in case you’re not interested enough already, you might want to know that former Mean Machines editor and all-round video gaming legend Julian ‘Jaz’ Rignall has been interviewed and will appear in the finished film. You can view an out-take from his excellent interview segment below, where he talks about how the golden era of video game development has surprising parallels with what’s currently happening in the smartphone arena.
The catch with From Bedrooms to Billions is that it’s not actually a completed film as yet - to finish it, the makers need you to take a bit of a gamble and pledge financial support via the IndieGoGo crowd-funding service.
By laying down some pre-order cash now, you can not only help the makers of this very noble film complete the project, but you’ll also get the chance to claim a unique retro-themed item - as long as you pledge a large enough amount of cash, of course.
Have your say about this feature

Now this is what I call exciting news; I am literally cacking myself with anticipation! Needless to say; I will definably be throwing some dosh towards this project.
Hopefully they interview ol’ Richy boy as well as Jaz.
